DevOps Architect is typically the highest technical role given to a DevOps professional in an organisation. A DevOps Architect is expected to design the DevOps Tooling solution needed by the business for more successful production release management. The design is expected to be delivered/implemented under leadership of the DevOps Architect. The DevOps Architect is supposed to also listen to customer problems and create solutions.

DevOps Consultants typically lead a team of DevOps Engineers in a customer/internal project. The consultants also have a customer facing role where they have to understand the customer requirements, provide consultancy to the customers on how to adopt better DevOps models and also lead the team to achieve those objectives. The DevOps Consultant job position is a highly rewarding job role, that pays well and gives important role within the company. As a consultant, you are expected to lead the customer conversations with knowledge of all available design choices. Hence you need to know a bit more than just an engineer. You need to not only know cloud but also how to automate cloud – the reason why this course teaches you Terraform. You need to not only know containerization, but also how to build a large scalable containerization cluster for microservices applications – that’s why we cover Kubernetes in this course. You need to be able to manage large customer datacenters through one infrastructure as code solution – but which one should it be? puppet or chef? chef is known to be more scalable but it requires a bit more coding proficiency. How do you know which one fits better for a specific customer? That’s why we cover both puppet and chef in this course. Sometimes a standard monitoring service from a cloud provider may not be adequate for all kinds of monitoring needs – specially for those extremely customised needs. If a customer comes up to you asking for a very specific monitoring need that seems hard to achieve using those cloud based services, you as consultant then need to advice the customer on possible solution. We cover Nagios in this course – which can practically monitor literally anything in the IT domain – and that too with DevOps’s “as a code” model of operation. When a customer looks at implementing DevOps as a Service from a cloud – they might need guidance from a DevOps consultant on which cloud to choose – hence we cover the devops approaches of both AWS and Azure in this same course.
